I assume you mean iphone 11 pro? Have you tried plugging the mic out and then listening to the audio?

It basically reduces the color noise. You'll notice the noise when you pixel peep or in dark areas.

What phone are you using? Sometimes a phone just doesn't support 30fps. Or it doesn't work well with the chip, my exynos phone do this too. It's also possible, but unlikely, maybe you can check your shutter speed because you might have set it too slow?

I use elegant teleprompter pro on the google play store. It's paid, but I recall it's not that expensive.

@@AndroMatthew I checked and that one is about $40 per year. I find that pretty expensive still. If it was a one off payment I would be ok with it but otherwise I don’t think it should be more than $10 a year..

@@AndroMatthew ah ok, that’s a different app than what I found. I’m on iOS and coincidentally there’s another app called elegant teleprompter. So I thought you meant that one. Looks like the one you linked doesn’t exist on iOS :/

I think you can cover it up with a black cloth. That's what I can think of other than cropping or using the zoom lens

It's very different in a sense that Motioncam log is based on RAW data. Mcpro24fps's log is just forced curves, the final output doesn't give you any more dynamic range.

​@@AndroMatthewFake log on top of the auto tone curve. When you lift up the shadows in Mcpro24fps footage, you see very horrible macro blocking.

Increasing the data rates doesn't improve the situation. It only wastes your phones energy and battery, while giving you larger files sizes with no benefit in quality.

An oversimplification - but in theory, it affects the accuracy during playback/pause. Meaning, in theory, the lower the better. But it could increase file size. It has very minimal or any at all impact on image quality itself. I suggest putting in lowest if you have storage and planning to edit the video.

Premiere Pro should be converting it to rec709 by default, but it's a good practice to check. If you're planning to export the final video in rec709, then grading in rec709 is the way to go. For example, I graded in rec2020 once and when I exported to rec709 everything looked overexposed.

@@AndroMatthew i might need more guidance its been 8 years since i last used premiere pro. When i import the footage it feels like its in some log format already and not rec 709 converted, everything is desaturated. I apply a LUT and it just looks massively out of place as if its oversaturated.... I may need to reshoot and change settings, i had it default to 75mbps max bit rate. I will try 160mbps as thats the max reported on my S23 Ultra.

I think it is easier just to shoot in RAW and do the transcoding and edit on my computer. Less taxing on the processor of smartphone, but more taxing on the storage.

Hey man. All the talking head with the mic is shit with my Sony mirrorless. Since I got motioncam it's been permanently mounted as my 'webcam' 😂 the motioncam footage in this video starts from 3:54.

It's mostly to mount my pro mist and ND filters. But I also use my mobile anamorphic lens.

Basically, Log videos are video recorded in a way that keeps as much color data. And you can have a lot of flexibility to color grade them in post. If you're not into grading your footage, you can just record in Rec709 😁 that should give you a nice looking video that's good enough for social media and even editing if you don't plan to color grade.

@@AndroMatthew What I do with my settings now is: direct log video, prores 10 bit, HQ, MCrawlog, I also rad there are MotionCam technical Luts but I guess they are for Raw videos...? Then I edit in Davinci or VN (on my phone) and try to adjust colors if needed. Thank you for your videos.

You're welcome. That sounds like a fine setting. Do you bin your prores videos?

@@AndroMatthew What do you mean by "bin"? (English isn't my first language).

There's an option for binned video in motioncam. Basically, it takes your 4k video and uses the pixel around it to make clearer 1080p image. Use that if you're shooting in prores.

The world building in DOS2 was soo good. I'm not gonna say BG3 was mundane, plus DOS2 had the same composer as BG3 too. They're different - and BG3 gave me the opportunity to enjoy a DND game... for once 😆 But, I'm really really excited for Larian to come back to DOS with everything they learned while making BG3. Oh man DOS3 GOTY.

@@AndroMatthew i hope they dont make the mistake of rng/baldurs gateify DOS 3. would be THE biggest disappointment. and yeah same composer BUT still no memorable music. i still VIVIDLY remember every single song from dos 2 and can even tell storys to them.

@@AndroMatthew may be it's because you gazed at the monitor for too long without breaks during the grading. It happens to me as well when I focus on one aspect of the color grading so much that other aspects gets ignored or it could be a result of an uncalibrated monitor.

I think it's a combination of all you said. I've also sadly never calibrated my monitor. 😢

It really depends on your phone. On my S22Ultra, Motioncam has access to all the cameras.

I think a bit more than arms length it you're on a tablet and enlarge the text. But most of my use cases have it about arms length at most.

Give it a try bro. I really think you'd like it especially if your hardware can shoot in 10-bit hevc (Unlike me with my S22 U 😆)

I didn't understand this, would you mind clarifying? Are you referring to the transfer function in the app and the case where I import the video directly into the social media app (e.g. Instagram)? Edit: I'm using DirectLog so the menu is different but I think the issue is the same.

@@pedromartinezlopez Yes, the Transfer Function is the one that you change from MCRAW LOG to BT.709

@@AndroMatthew I was able to record with RAW or Direct Log, but the DL videos are unplayable on my phone and freeze frames on my PC. The RAW video is playing in the "Manage Videos" section on the app, but I'm having trouble rendering it as a ProRes HQ file

From what I've read, the snapdragon 865 is working quite well with the app. What settings are you recording DL with? I've heard it even works ok with 10bit hevc.

Thank you. I shoot in RAW and then transcoded to prores cineon log. Then graded them with a Lut I've prepared. With adjustments here and there when needed. In this video, there were minor color denoising as well.

I don't recall how much it was cause I wasn't paying haha. But it's worth it if you really like a challenge cause the whole trip wasn't a stroll-in-the-park kind of experience. There were a few times I thought I'd fly off the hill to my death 😂

The new beta is really good for long form since you can record in hevc 10-bit straight from the RAW stream. Give it a try!
